I’ll be moving into a new house in the next few months and, in addition to all the dull financial stuff, I’ve also been spending some time on the fun stuff.
I recently had a décor idea that isn’t necessarily for one room, but will be used throughout the whole house.
Being the hopeless romantic that I am, I’m very inspired by the Hindu story of Lord Krishna and his Radha.
Their story has been captured by Indian artists for centuries and I find them to be some of the most romantic pieces of art that I’ve seen. Lucky for my wallet, I’ve actually found a lot of theses pieces reprinted in poster form.
I’ve bought a print of Krishna teasing Radha as she fetches water at the river, a print of Krishna and Radha playing together as children, Krishna teaching Radha to play his flute, and soon I’ll have prints of Krishna decorating Radhas’ hands with henna, the couple sitting on a swing together in the garden and the two dancing during the Raas Leela.
One framed print will hang in every room and just below the picture on a piece of paper about the size of an index card (also framed), will be a short description of the scene and perhaps some traditional song lyrics inspired by the legend of Radha and Lord Krishna.
